Jean Misischi est né en 1935 à Marseille, où il a grandi dans une atmosphère empreinte de culture méditerranéenne, qui influencera profondément son œuvre. Il découvre très tôt sa vocation artistique et entre à l’École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, où il reçoit une formation académique solide.

Installé ensuite à Paris, il fréquente les ateliers d’artistes et participe à plusieurs salons importants tels que le Salon des Indépendants et le Salon d’Automne. Son style, résolument figuratif, s’inspire de la vie quotidienne, des visages, des paysages urbains et marins, avec une grande sensibilité à la lumière et aux ambiances.

Misischi privilégie une peinture sobre, intime, où l’on sent une attention à l’humain, au regard, à l’instant suspendu. Il développe aussi un goût pour les scènes méditerranéennes, les ports, les marchés et les portraits silencieux.

Ses œuvres ont été exposées en France et à l’étranger, notamment en Italie et en Espagne, et figurent aujourd’hui dans plusieurs collections publiques et privées.

Jean Misischi was born in 1935 in Marseille, where he grew up in an atmosphere steeped in Mediterranean culture, which would profoundly influence his work. He discovered his artistic vocation early on and enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, where he received a solid academic training.

He then settled in Paris, frequented artists' studios and participated in several important exhibitions such as the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne. His resolutely figurative style draws inspiration from daily life, faces, urban and seascapes, with a great sensitivity to light and atmosphere.

Misischi favors a sober, intimate style of painting, in which one senses an attention to the human, the gaze, and the suspended moment. He also developed a taste for Mediterranean scenes, ports, markets, and silent portraits. His works have been exhibited in France and abroad, notably in Italy and Spain, and are now included in several public and private collections.

Jean Misischi passed away in 2022, leaving behind a discreet but touching body of work, rooted in the figurative tradition while also casting a poetic eye on the world.
