Biographie
Éliane Thiollier (1926–1989) était une artiste peintre et lithographe française, associée à la deuxième École de Paris et au mouvement de la Jeune Peinture. Son œuvre se distingue par des paysages structurés et colorés, inspirés de ses voyages et de la lumière du sud de la France.
Formation et débuts
Née le 5 juin 1926 à Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Éliane Thiollier intègre en 1946 l’École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris, contre l’avis de son père architecte. Elle rejoint l’atelier de René Jaudon, maître de la lithographie, où elle perfectionne sa technique picturale et s’initie à la gravure. En 1950, elle illustre avec son maître les poèmes de Frédéric de Towarnicki. Dès 1951, elle expose au Salon de la Jeune Peinture, puis au Salon Comparaisons en 1954.
Style et inspirations
Le style de Thiollier est marqué par une figuration structurée, aux compositions solides et équilibrées. Sa palette chaude, dominée par des rouges, ocres, gris et noirs, s’inspire des paysages de Provence et d’Aquitaine, où elle s’installe après avoir quitté Paris. Ses nombreux voyages au Kenya, au Yucatán, en Thaïlande ou en Camargue enrichissent son univers pictural. Le peintre Édouard Georges Mac-Avoy salua ses paysages « vigoureux, construits ».
Engagements et reconnaissance
Active dans la vie artistique parisienne, Thiollier fut secrétaire générale du Salon de la Jeune Peinture (1957–1964), membre du comité du Salon d’Automne, et commissaire de ce dernier en 1987. Elle reçut plusieurs distinctions, dont le Prix des Clubs du Tableau, le Prix du VIe Salon international de Vichy, et le Prix du Salon de la Peinture Taurine de Nîmes.
Fin de vie
Éliane Thiollier est décédée le 28 août 1989 dans un accident de voiture à Grateloup-Saint-Gayrand, dans le Lot-et-Garonne.

Éliane Thiollier (1926–1989) was a French painter and lithographer associated with the Second School of Paris and the Young Painting movement. Her work is distinguished by structured and colorful landscapes, inspired by her travels and the light of southern France.
Education and Early Life
Born on June 5, 1926, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Éliane Thiollier enrolled in the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris in 1946, against the wishes of her architect father. She joined the studio of René Jaudon, a master of lithography, where she perfected her painting technique and began practicing engraving. In 1950, she worked with her teacher to illustrate the poems of Frédéric de Towarnicki. From 1951, she exhibited at the Salon de la Jeune Peinture, then at the Salon Comparaisons in 1954.
Style and Inspirations
Thiollier's style is marked by structured figuration, with solid and balanced compositions. Her warm palette, dominated by reds, ochres, grays, and blacks, is inspired by the landscapes of Provence and Aquitaine, where she settled after leaving Paris. Her numerous travels to Kenya, the Yucatan, Thailand, and the Camargue enriched her pictorial universe. The painter Édouard Georges Mac-Avoy praised her landscapes as "vigorous and structured."
Commitments and Recognition
Active in Parisian artistic life, Thiollier was secretary general of the Salon de la Jeune Peinture (1957–1964), a member of the committee of the Salon d'Automne, and its curator in 1987. She received several awards, including the Prix des Clubs du Tableau, the Prix du VIe Salon International de Vichy, and the Prix du Salon de la Peinture Taurine de Nîmes.
End of Life
Éliane Thiollier died on August 28, 1989, in a car accident in Grateloup-Saint-Gayrand, in the Lot-et-Garonne department.
