Jef Friboulet, de son vrai nom Émile Jean Jules Friboulet, est un peintre, lithographe et sculpteur français né le 11 novembre 1919 à Fécamp et décédé le 13 mai 2003 à Yport, en Normandie.

Un autodidacte au style unique
Issu d'une famille modeste — son père était pêcheur à Terre-Neuve et sa mère factrice — Jef Friboulet se forme à la peinture de manière autodidacte, développant un style personnel marqué par une touche fougueuse et un chromatisme sobre. Ses œuvres, tant picturales que sculpturales, exaltent l'être humain avec humilité et bonté de l'âme.

Un parcours militaire et artistique
En mars 1939, il s'engage dans l'aviation et est affecté en Afrique au sein du groupe Bourgogne, basé à Bamako.
C'est durant cette période que ses talents de peintre et de dessinateur, qu'il manifeste depuis son enfance, sont reconnus.

A self-taught artist with a unique style
Coming from a modest family—his father was a fisherman in Newfoundland and his mother a mail carrier—Jef Friboulet taught himself painting, developing a personal style marked by a fiery touch and restrained color scheme. His works, both pictorial and sculptural, exalt the human being with humility and kindness of soul.

A military and artistic career
In March 1939, he enlisted in the air force and was posted to Africa with the Bourgogne group, based in Bamako. It was during this period that his talents as a painter and draftsman, which he had displayed since childhood, were recognized.
